Fiji basketballers reminded of task

The national men’s and womens basketball teams were reminded to be good ambassadors for the country when they participate at the Oceania Pacific Championships in Wellington, New Zealand this week.

Basketball Fiji President Ioane Naivalurua said players should never settle for average and strive for the best.

Fiji women’s coach Laisiasa Puamau says the players will take to heart the words of Naivalurua as they prepare to take on their regional opponents.

“We’d like to thank the Fiji Basketball Association president Ioane Naivalurua for coming to motivate the team, and also talking to the team about excellent standards and staying true to our mission and our mission is to finish in the top three positions at the end of this tournament.”

The teams will be presenting their itatau to the President Ratu Epeli Nailatikau tomorrow before departing for Wellington on Wednesday.
