LDS creates first upset in the Twisties Basketball Games

Latter Day Saints created the first upset in the Twisties Basketball Championships defeating tournament favourites International Secondary School in tripple overtime in the U19 boys division. The fast paced game was very entertaining with both teams exchanging baskets throughout the game and both not willing to give up the lead. In the 1st overtime LDS had a 8 point lead before a resurgent International outfit fought back to draw the game. The second overtime was just as exciting as the first, with tournament favourite leading. Unfortunily poor ball managment allowed Latter Day Saints into the game . In the third overtime a much fitter LDS team was able to hold out the game and walked away with the win. In the U19 girls grade defending champions Yat Sen defeated Laucala Bay Secondary School 40 - 9 and are looking on course to retaining the U19 girls title. However they should be facing stiff competition from Suva Grammar, Latter Day Saints and Natabua. In the U15 boys grade International was able to revenge their U19 boys team by beating basketball rivals LDS 25-22. In the other U15 boys game Yat Sen defeated Laucala Bay Secondary School 31-17.  In the U15 girls an impressive Yat Sen outfit defeated Saint Joseph 36 -7. In the other U15 girls pool International defeated Suva Grammar 25 - 18.

Basketball Fiji wishes all teams the best in the remainder of the 2009 Twisters Basketball Secondary Schools Championships.
