Last Thursday saw AFL Northern Rivers and the Gold Coast SUNS Academy host an AFL combine testing session at Southern Cross University.
The testing was an outstanding success with the boys excelling in all departments that were set by the GC SUNS Academy team.
The AFLQ Coaching Staff were also impressed by the results and the boy’s determination to perform to their best of their ability.
The session saw several senior Gold Coast SUNS players also attend to help educate the boys on what is needed to become a footballer at the top level.
With the help of the North Coast Academy Of Sport, the talent group were tested on their anaerobic speed, vertical jump and finished with the beep test.
AFL Northern Rivers Regional Manager Trent Ryan spoke about how valuable these sessions are for the kids to go on and excel in the future.
‘‘The session was a success I was really pleased on how it went, we hope this will continue in the future’’
With the Northern Rivers Summer Talent Squad to be picked next week, it’s important that the boys put everything they’ve learnt over the past 9 weeks to impress the AFLQ training staff for the last time.
Team selection will be circulated to the talent group shortly after the conclusion of the Summer Program by AFLQ Staff.
