Last Thursday saw AFL Northern Rivers host the AFL Umpires ‘Community Roadshow’ at the Byron Regional Sporting and Cultural Centre.
Experienced AFL Umpire Brett Rosebury and Goal Umpire Dan Hoskins were in attendance as part of the lead-up to the AFL NAB Challenge match at Metricon Stadium between the Brisbane Lions and The Gold Coast Suns.
This was a great opportunity for local umpires to gain an insight on what it is like to umpire on the biggest stage in football.
Both Umpires discussed pathways for the local juniors to seek further opportunities in progressing to the AFL system.
The evening was well supported with more than 15 junior umpires in attendance, where Rosebury shared his experiences and answer some questions from the emerging group of umpires from the Northern Rivers Region.
As part of the umpire development program, local umpires had the opportunity to train with Brett in a skills session and learn from one of the best umpires in the AFL.
The evening concluded with plenty of photos and a cake to celebrate Brett Rosebury’s Birthday.
