GWS players visit
Sapphire Coast hosted a successful visit from two of Greater Western Sydney Giants players on Monday and Tuesday 17/18 June. The two players, Adam Kennedy and Nick Haynes had a clinic with about 250 school children at lunchtime on Monday, the players were a hit and were mobbed for autographs after the session.
In the afternoon they visited the Bega Hospital which they both said was a rewarding experience, leaving signed footballs there for distribution.
They then held a training session at Bega Showground for about 100 children. There were children of all ages coming from all surrounding areas including Narooma and Bermagui. Afterwards all participants were treated to a sausage sizzle hosted by the Bega FC while the players met with representatives from local organisations.
On Tuesday they visited Eden High and Lumen Christi schools before heading to Canberra.
It is always a great opportunity for children when players visit as they can meet and talk to the people they see running around on TV.
Senior representative game
The Sapphire Coast AFL senior representative team played against South Coast AFL on Saturday 8/6/13 at Narooma.
The conditions were perfect for football and a great game was put on by both teams. South Coast got away to a quick start and led by 16 poijnts at quarter time. They then kicked the first couple of goals in the second quarter and things looked a bit grim for Sapphire Coast, but dogged determination by the Sapphire Coast boys saw them kick the next 5 goals and went into half time only 3 points down.
South Coast came out firing after half time kicking 6 goals to 2 in the third quarter and 5 goals to 3 in the last quarter. South Coast 18-16-124 d Sapphire Coast 12-9-81.
The Sapphire Coast team can be proud as they were lacking experience and found the opposition a bit too strong and quick.
Congratulations to coach Luke Moresi and the team for the their efforts in representing the League.
