The 14th Pacific Games have come to an end after two weeks of wonderful sporting moments in New Caledonia.
There were a great many highlights of what were an "exceptional" Pacific Games. The attendance of the President of France, His Excellency Nicolas Sarkozy, to open the Games was surely one of them. As was the dynamic performance of "Les Cagous" - the home team of New Caledonia, surpassing 100 gold medals for the first time in Pacific Games history.
There were also many outstanding individual performances and some great teams on display as well, as 19 of the 22 participating nations and territories found their way onto the medal podium.
The Pacific Games Council salutes the 2,700 athletes from the 22 Pacific Island nations and territories who took part in the Games with the "Pacifique Attitude" and the 5,000 volunteers who made the Games so exceptional in so many ways.
Felicitations et bravo Nouvelle Caledonie.
