BBNZ All of Basketball Plan (AoBP) and how it affects New Plymouth Representative Players

With the changes proposed in the BBNZ All of Basketball Plan (AoBP), there is now a new structure for teams attending BBNZ national age group tournaments. This new plan sees the removal of qualifying regional tournaments run by BBNZ. From 2013, teams will go straight to Nationals depending upon their zone allocation. Taranaki has been allocated a single team for each age group (boys and girls) to attend Nationals. See BBNZ website for more details about this plan.

While NPBA will continue to run the local association representative program (as advertised), and will endeavour to find appropriate tournaments for these players to develop their skills, these teams will be set up with the aim to develop our local players. These players may then wish to also trial for their respective Taranaki team. NPBA is working with the other Taranaki associations, (Stratford, Hawera and Opunake) to determine how the Taranaki rep programme will be structured.
