Massive Task awaits Tigers

HOW do you prepare for an opponent that has won 11 matches straight by an average of 146 points with its closest winning margin being 51 points and has four of the leading 10 goalkickers in the competition?

That's the seemingly impossible task confronting fourth-placed Kingborough coach Adam Henley when the Tigers venture to Boyer for the feature SFL clash with New Norfolk today.

The Eagles thrashed Kingborough by 126 points in their previous meeting in round two in April but Henley said his side would be aiming to carry the confidence gained from last weekend's 29-point win over Dodges Ferry into today's game.

``We are looking to improve on our first game against New Norfolk earlier in the season.

``But it's a big ask. We'll give it our best shot and see if that's good enough.

``It's a bigger ground than we are used to but we are a young side and we should be able to run the game out.

``To win we are going to need to play our best football, win the hard ball and hope New Norfolk has an off day,'' he said.

Kingborough will go into the match without Nathan Foale, who is overseas, Leigh Savage, who tore a hamstring last week, and Tom Kink, who has a shoulder injury.

New Norfolk coach Anthony McConnon said his players had no problem maintaining their momentum.

``They are all local players and are a very closely knit bunch. They know a position in the side is very hard to get and they all work hard at training.''

McConnon said he expected an improved Kingborough effort today but added the Eagles would have five players coming into their side from their round two encounter.

In other matches today, Central Hawks play Cygnet at Bothwell, Sorell takes on winless Triabunna at Pembroke Park, Dodges Ferry are at home to Brighton and second-placed Lindisfarne faces a testing match at Anzac Park against a resurgent Claremont side attempting to win its seventh consecutive match.
