WHAT IS REC FOOTY?
AFL Recreational Football is a game that provides an opportunity for all people of all ages and ability to participate in a mixed modified game of Australian football. The game has strong parallels to the traditional game, however it is easier to play, less physically demanding and most importantly the emphasis is on fun.
 

HOW IS THE GAME PLAYED?
1. Two (2) teams of eight (8) plus interchange players. Each team must have a minimum of three (3) females on the field at any one time.
2. The field is divided into three (3) zones, a mid zone and two scoring zones.
3. Teams score by kicking the football into their attacking forward zone to a designated forward
4. Forwards may take a set shot for goal only after the ball has been marked in their scoring zone.
5. Forwards can only take a set shot for goal. They are not permitted to “play on” when kicking for goal.
6. A turnover occurs when the ball touches the ground. The opposing team takes possession where the ball first made contact with the ground.
7. There is absolutely no contact, bumping or tackling. Flag belts are used.
8. A mark is rewarded regardless of the distance a ball has travelled.

WHO CAN PLAY?
Recreational football is open to all persons aged over 14 years.
 
DO I NEED TO TRAIN TO PLAY AFL RECREATIONAL FOOTBALL?
There is no structured training for recreational football. There are minimal time commitments. All you have to do is turn up and play!
