The Sawtell Saints have continued their unbeaten run with a comprehensive win over the Coffs Swans.

Anyone doubting the toughness of the game was given a stark reminder in the second quarter when a sickening head clash put a dampener on proceedings. The game was stopped for half-an-hour whilst young Swan, Darby Pearce was taken by ambulance after clashing with Simon Taylor.

The Swans were unable to recover after a competitive first quarter where they frustrated the normally clinical Saints. As the match progressed, however, the Saints were able to pick their listless opponents to pieces through the midfield.

Courtney Tune dominated the ruck, supplying well to Luke Matthews and Mark Couzens. Despite missing several first graders, the class difference was there to see and despite the best efforts of Peter Robinson on Ben Hooke, the Saints had too many avenues to goal.

In comparison, there were few options for the Swans past halfway. Kris Rundell battled valiantly for the Swans but Saturday's performance suggests it will be a long year for the red and whites.

North Coffs have bounced back well from last weekend's defeat in their win over a gallant Nambucca Valley Lions.

The writing was on the wall after a strong first quarter in which the Kangaroos kicked six goals. New recruit, Ben Sykes started well to kick three of his five goals for the match.

Nambucca worked their way into the contest leading into half-time as Luke Benson and Ray McGrath battled hard for their side in the middle.

The depth and experience of the Kangaroos came to the fore in the premiership quarter as they wrested back control of the match. Darren Funston racked up the possessions and was able to help his teammates keep their opposition goalless.

There was to be no miracle comeback for the Lions although they drew even in the last stanza. Brad Giri was also prominent for North Coffs as they denied the Nambucca outfit a win in their first match this season at home.

It rained goals at Stuart Park with the Port Magpies finishing well to notch up their second win for the season in an important match against the Tigers.

Grafton were competitive, and led at the end of the first quarter. They were cruelled by the loss of star key position players, Justin Darby and Daniel Zacek prior to half-time.

This buoyed the Magpies side and took the wind out of the Tigers in a lop-sided second half.

Jesse Schmidt and Greg Conway led the procession in an accurate showing up forward. They received strong support from Craig Dicker and Clayton Miechel in a more even showing from the home side.

The Tigers will have to bounce back as they face another road trip next week to play Nambucca Valley, while the Magpies will this time head north to take on the irrepressible Saints in the match of the round.
