Budding AFL juniors from Coffs Harbour and Bellingen have had a taste of life at the top of their game by sharing the pitch with the Sydney Swans and North Melbourne at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Sunday, July 11.
For the juniors, it was an experience many wait years for when they were treated like a professional AFL player, warming up in the stadium’s facilities and running out of the tunnel at half-time.
It was truly a special moment for some players as they welcomed back their Swans and Kangaroos heroes for the second half of their match.
For the Auskickers, they also got the chance to see the game from the grandstands where they watched the Swans beat the Kangaroos by 30 points. The Swans’ next home game is against last year’s premiers Geelong at ANZ Stadium on July 31.
NAB Auskick is the AFL’s key introductory program for primary school boys and girls providing kids with a platform to play Australian Football in a fun and safe environment.
There are modified rules of the game so players can get out and have a kick of the Sherrin with their friends.
