The Grafton Tigers held their annual AGM last Wednesday night, with a strong showing demonstrating players and fans up north are keen to see the club progress.
The committee elected for 2008/09 is as follows:
President: David Gordon
Vice Presedent: Chris Schaeffer
Secretary: James Hourigan
Treasurer: Grahame Blackwell
General Committee members: Leith Bassett, Warren Bagnall, Daniel Zacek, Dion McGregor.
There are still some positions (eg. Media Officer) left vacant. Interested individuals are encouraged to contact David Gordon on 0418 861 318.
The new committee is keen to investigate the following matters, in particular, for the upcoming season:
- A sub-committee being set-up to get renovations organised for the clubrooms.
- The success of Auskick and the possibility of running Auskick games prior to Saturday home games in the morning.
- Being the only non-coastal club in the competition, the club is forced to look at other avenues to attract players. Yamba and Maclean, for example are two areas that are an untapped resource for the club, and Grafton believes they are close enough to attract players from these areas to join the club in the coming years.
These are valid points and will only increase the viability and competitiveness of the Grafton club in all grades, not only next season but into the future.
