Talented High Schoolers set to invade Coffs

Elite level AFL football once again hits the North Coast with the NSW CHS (Combined High Schools) State Under 15 Championships being held at Coffs Harbour’s BCU International Stadium next week from Tuesday 2nd- Thursday 4th June.

The Championships bring together the best footballers from around the State who have been through tryouts to make their Regional team.

The Championships not only result in a winning region but act as a selection carnival for the NSW All Schools team to compete in the National Championships held in Queensland in July.

Traditionally, the Riverina teams have been the powerhouse team, however the emerging football areas are being more competitive each year.

5 local players will be on show in the North Coast team:

  • Patrick Gillingham (Toormina HS)
  • Nathan Harris (Orara HS)
  • Angus Burkitt (Toormina HS)
  • Brendan Norton (Orara HS)
  • Nick Bailey (Coffs Harbour HS).

AFL NSW/ACT’s Umpiring Academy of emerging talented umpires form around the state will officiate the carnival. Once again we will be represented locally by Coffs Harbour umpire and Orara High School student, Mitch Turner.

Entry is free to all games and everyone is invited to attend and see the future starts of AFL football in NSW.
