Umpires Needed for Rec Footy Season!

What is Rec Footy?  Rec Footy has been developed to provide an opportunity for all AFL enthusiasts to enjoy participating in a game that has strong parallels with the traditional game.  Played in a friendly social environment, it enables people of all ages and ability levels to participate in male, female and mixed teams. The game is non-contact, played between two teams of eight on a 100m field.

Why Umpire Rec Footy?  Rec Footy umpiring is a great way to keep a basic level of fitness over the summer, earn easy money and participate in the fun and social environment.  Umpires are paid $20 per hour. Games are only 2 x 20min halves and matches are held all around Brisbane (Coorparoo, Redland, Morningside, Mt Gravatt, Western Magpies, Kedron, Coorparoo and Zillmere).

AFL Queensland are holding an Orientation training night on Tuesday 29 September. The training will cover rules, basic game procedures and practical drills.  Attendance to this night for all new Rec Footy umpires is compulsory.  We would also recommend those umpires that have umpired in the past to come along to refresh themselves to the rules as well as act as mentors to new umpires.
