AFL Tasmania is pleased to announce the Currie Football Netball Club as the first regional level club in Tasmania to be awarded certification in the AFL Quality Club Program.
The Award was presented to club President Trevor Stones at Currie on Saturday by General Manager – Community Football, Nick Probert on behalf of AFL Tasmania.
“Assisting clubs to achieve Quality Club certification is a priority for AFL Tasmania for the benefits that it can bring to local clubs, as it demonstrates that they have a quality environment, which is key to both retaining volunteers and attracting new people to their club”, he said.
“Currie Football Netball club have shown great leadership and set the example to other Tasmanian community clubs who we hope will follow closely behind and gain certification also.”
The concept of the AFL Quality Club Program has been developed in the interests of assisting all football clubs to achieve standards of excellence in club operations and administration that demonstrate best practices in their local community.
The process requires clubs to meet minimum standards of excellence across a range of areas including codes of conduct, levels of certification and education for specialised positions and behavioural policies for club members, all with a view to creating better club environments.
Currie Football Netball Club President, Trevor Stones said, “Our club is proud to be the first Tasmanian regional club to receive Quality Club Certification - it is a valid recognition of the work done by many of our club volunteers and we believe it will be a good advertisement of the professionalism of our club in our community.”
