Today, State League General Manager, Shaun Young released the names of the top 10 vote getters for the RACT Insurance State League’s Tassie Medal.
Players from seven clubs have been named as the top ten vote winners for the 2013 RACT Insurance State League’s top award, the Tassie Medal, which will be announced by AFL Tasmania on Grand Final day at Aurora Stadium on Saturday September 21.
The clubs still harbouring a hope that one of theirs will win the TSL’s best and fairest award include Glenorchy, Lauderdale and South Launceston, each with two players in the running, while North Hobart, Clarence, North Launceston and Launceston each have one.
While North Hobart has Gareth Delaney in the top ten, he finds himself ineligible to win the Tassie Medal due to being suspended for a reportable offence during the season.
The winner will join the honour board alongside Kurt Heazlewood (2009), Brett Geappen (2010), Tim Bristow (2011) and Jaye Bowden (2012).
“Having players from seven clubs represented in the top ten for the Tassie Medal is a great indication of the player talent the clubs have across the RACT Insurance State League,” said State League General Manager, Shaun Young.
The top ten includes 2012 Tassie Medallist Jay Bowden who could achieve the feat of being the first player to win consecutive Tassie Medals along with seasoned performers such as Brady Jones, Mitchell Thorp, Allan O’Sign, Gareth Delaney, Nathan Matthews and a great array of young talent in Damon Smith, Sam Rundle, Jay Blackberry and Jim Dunham.
“We congratulate all the players in the top ten on an outstanding season. Whoever wins will be worthy of the honour as the TSL’s best and fairest player and will rightly stand alongside the past winners of the Tassie Medal."
