Tasmanian Womens League Coach, Luci-anne Ottaway, has been selected to attend the 2013 AFL Womens High Performance Coaching Academy.
The academy, which is the first held by the AFL for coaches of womens football, will be conducted from the 3 - 7 February in Melbourne at Visy Park.
The academy is a live-in program that provides the attendees with the opportunity to observe and learn from the AFL’s Talent and Coaching Staff as well as former AFL players and coaches.
Ottaway was appointed as coach of the North Hobart Football Club's Tasmanian Womens League team for 2013, making her the first female coach in the competition's history.
AFL Tasmania's Community Programs Manager, Brett Mansell said, "We believe Luci-anne is a great example of female involvement in the game and we think she can be a role model for other women wanting to get involved in footy in any capacity."
The game development opportunities that the AFL is making available to females is encouraging for female participants, which AFL Tasmania will look to continually support to enhance female football in the state.
