Townsville Products get GC17 Trial

Matt Storey and Nathanial Congoo have been invited to attend the GC 17's talent camp this weekend at the Gold Coast.

Both players have been identified through the season after both representing Townsville and then the Queensland Country Kookaburras at the State Championships.

Congoo, 16, has just finished his first season of AFL after converting from Rugby League, being including in the U/16 Queensland scorpions team as well before succumbing to Stress fractures in his back in the latter half of the season. A tall athletic forward line player Nathanial attends Kirwan High and plays for the Thuringowa Bulldogs.

Matt Storey,17 from the Hermit Park Tigers is also a tall athletic type who can play anywhere from Centre Half Back to the Ruck. He was a member of the Hermit Park A Grade Premiership side this year and has been a regular representative player over the past three years since converting over to AFL from Rugby Union.

40 players from around the state have been invited to attend the camp where they will be tested for there athletic ability plus skill and psychological tests.

The Gold Coast are still awaiting confirmation for the 17th license, but have managed to tick most of the boxes requested by the AFL. They have also appointed a Development Coach, Ex West Coast Champion, Guy McKenna to oversee the first two years.
