With 12 teams competing in the day long comp, the Tigers worked unbelievably hard throughout what was a long day to come away the win.
After narrowly losing game one to the Mackay City Hawks the Tigers rallied to beat the North Mackay Saints by 29 points and advance to the semis. In the semi they accounted for the Mackay Crows U/18 rep team and then defeated the Eastern Swans from Mackay in the grand final by just over two goals.
The win was even more impressive by the fact that only had 5 premiership players from last year playing. All the new players did extremely well and proved they will be great acquisitions for the club, including three juniors, Chris Hodges, Jason Di Betta and Henry Joyce. Four experienced senior regulars in Matty T, Staffy, Ruffy and KD, certainly stepped up for the occasion and led from the front.
Four the other clubs who competed the Curra Swans were forced out in the semi's defeated by there Mackay namesake, the Uni Hawks were defeated by the U/18 side and then had a narrow win over the Rockhampton Brothers side, which included the Mark of the Day by new recruit Joe Hoolahan! The Thuringowa Bulldogs unfortunately come away winless but would have gained a lot leading into the 2009 season.
