Sim and Agita win Junior B & F Awards!

The AFL Townsville Juniors held there Presentation day at La Porchetta yesterday with over 100 people attending. The day started with the coaches awards for the U/13 teams as well as the volunteer awards.

U/13 Coaches Awards were awarded to Mitchell Farmer TB Red, Mtchell Lodge HP Gold, Alex Finn TB Blue, Mason McInnes TB White, Jarrod Lacey UB, Jack Growden HP Black, Damon Geary CT and Ryan Longridge CS.

Volunteer of the year was awarded to Curra Swans Stalwert Eric Collis, who unfortunately could not be at the presentation.

After the delightful lunch the U/15 Count B & F started. Ryan Agita got out to an early lead with James Markham, Dominic Stout-Milkins and Jordan Bevan all polling well. Agita continued to poll votes as did the Curra Swans Stout - Milkins and another leader started to come through in Thuringowa Bulldogs players Tranter Keyes. In the end it was Hermit Parks Agita on 16 Votes from Dominic Stout -Milkins 12 votes, Jimmy Markham on 11 and Tanter Keyes on 10. Ryan's win capped of a great year where he was also selected in the U/14 Country Kookaburra Program and also in the Brisbane Lions acadamey. The amazing thing is Ryan is only 13 and still has two years left in this age group!

The U/17 Count was won by Curra Swans midfielder Joel Sim on 14 Votes in front of Hermit Park's Chris Hodges. The most pleaseing thing to see in the U/17 count was that all players in the top 10 had all experienced Senior Football in 2009. Names like Wall, MacGregor, Faulds, Joyce all performed very well at senior, reserves or A Grade, level in 2009.

Coaches of the year were also awarded eith the Thuringowa Bulldogs U/11 Coach Gerard Wheelahan awarded the prestigous coach of the year award. Other nominations were Shane Jurgens U/9, Grag Cahill U/13, Ted Dover U/15 and Robin Kerr U/17.

Well done to Tony Casley for being the MC for the day and also John Roverts for putting the day together.
