The sides have faced off in three of the past four Grand Finals with Nudgee having the wood over their inner-city counterparts on all occasions. Another win would bring about an unprecedented fourth successive victory for the northside boys.
After completing the three-peat during 2003-2005, BBC has been unable to shake their rivals grasp on the Jason Dunstall Cup but the race for this years flag heated up during round 5 of the regular season when Nudgee suffered their first loss in four years at the hands of a well oiled BBC unit.
This evened the ledger after Nudgee managed to sneak home with a 2 point win earlier in the year. The results from this season look to make the final game too close to call, and both camps are more than aware of what will be expected.
“We suffered our first loss in four years to BBC so the boys know it will be close,” Nudgee’s John Stackpoole said.
“This is the most tight the competition has been for years and both times we have played it has been a close result.
“We have a well balanced team all over the field so we are still very confident.”
With not much separating the two teams, BBC football coordinator Margery McIntyre agrees that this match will go to the wire.
“If you look at the games between us this year we have played twice and won a game each,” Mrs McIntyre said.
“The boys have had another training session to prepare themselves after the holiday break and are looking forward to a good game.”
The game will be played at Coorparoo AFC this Friday at 7:10pm.
