Nudgee College find their Rhythm

Early play  indicated this would be the case with Ipswich winning the toss and gaining early possession in the game. However, Ipswich’s failure to convert was Nudgee’s gain, taking possession  and kicking the opening goal of the match. A couple of behinds and an incredible long range goal by Jake Davison secured Nudgee a 26 point lead over its rivals heading into quarter time.

The never say die attitude of Ipswich was adhered to in the opening minutes of the second term, with good ball control and team work, leading to the teams initial goal of the match. A swift reply from the brilliant Ryan Davison proved the ultimate blow to Ipswich who’s moral was fading with the sun light. Nudgee continued its dominate status right through both the second and third quarters, outplaying Ipswich in every aspect of the game. However a small glimmer of hope was still evident within the Ipswich camp, with outstanding defence from both, Riley Moore and Jay Humphreys keeping Nudgee within in striking distance come the fourth term.

Good communication, combined with excellent ball control and the advantage of more players on the field, secured Nudgee the victory early in the concluding term. This was assisted by the sloppy kick outs displayed by Ipswich, who struggled to get the ball out of its own goal square. At the conclusion of the match, coach of the Nudgee College team, Dylan Read said he was happy with the team’s performance, recognising the steady improvements made week on week.
