Round 6 WEDNESDAY Preview: Men

By James Woite

Woodville (4-1) v North (4-1)

The North Adelaide Rockets will be going for their second win over the Woodville Warriors this season when the two sides meet at Adelaide Arena on Wednesday.

The Warriors’ 77-84 loss to the Rockets at Hillcrest on March 21 is their only loss since June 21 last year. The Rockets had five double-figure scorers. Aric Miller led the way for the Rockets with 22 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists, closely followed by Tom Rowe with 14 points and 7 rebounds.

For the Warriors, Mitch Creek had 28 points and 13 rebounds, while Darren Ng scored 17 points. The result was a major surprise considering the Rockets had won six straight at North, and had swept the series the past two seasons.

The Rockets are coming off a nail-biting loss to the Bearcats, while the Warriors beat the Tigers by 12, despite being outscored 11-28 in the fourth quarter. Both teams are now 4-1.

The Rockets have won their last four against the Warriors at Adelaide Arena by an average of 32 points.

Forestville (4-1) v South (1-5)

The South Adelaide Panthers will try to build on their first win of 2015 when they face the Forestville Eagles at Adelaide Arena on Wednesday, for the second time this season.

The Panthers beat Centrals 96-66 last week, ending a five game losing streak. The Eagles won by an almost identical scoreline against the Mavericks, earning them a positive result for the fourth time in five outings.

Last time they met, the Eagles defeated the Panthers at Marion 101-87. The Eagles were without Jake Rios, who scored 31 in the win at Eastern. The suspended Daniel Sims stood up in his absence with 33 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists. Jeremy Smith had 24 points and 8 rebounds for the Panthers.

The Panthers produced a 50 point turnaround between their first and second meetings with the Eagles last season, so the Eagles will need to be wary of their opponents’ ability to bounce back quickly.
