WEEK 2 GRADING MATCHES POSTPONED
Fixture Game Postponements and Practice Game cancellations
Due to recent extreme weather the AFL Queensland Ground Sub Committee has decided to postpone some of this weekend’s fixtures and cancel practice matches.
Whilst the committee understands the impact of this decision on clubs and players, the code has a responsibility to all stakeholders to ensure both player safety and ground sustainability for the season ahead.
Clubs and councils have made significant financial investments into grounds and the Committee feels that playing multiple games at this stage of the year on extremely wet surfaces would be short-sighted and costly.
Accordingly, the decision has been made to call off or postpone the following:
- SEQ Cup (NEAFL Reserve) game between Mt Gravatt and Aspley schedule at Morningside;
- All SEQ Division 1 and reserve practice games;
- SEQ Div 2 and 3 Reserves;
- All Under 18 Shield fixtures as well as other Under 18 practice games;
- AFL Brisbane Juniors youth Grading matches.
Competition Co-ordinators will sit down in the coming weeks to look at options to reschedule fixture matches.
