WA Women’s Football League Celebrate their 25th year, with the second ‘Yorga’s Koodjal Kadadjiny Match’ which is the ‘Women’s Two Way Learning Match’ this consists of the Indigenous All Stars playing against the WAWFL All stars.
This is going to be an Alcohol free, Smoke Free and Drug Free Event. This match is to celebrate the passion and skill of our indigenous female footballers and to highlight the reconciliation between our indigenous and non-indigenous female footballers and to encourage positive respectful relationships between all Australians. This match has so much significance; being a tribute match for two indigenous female footballers; Sharon Woods and Elizabeth ‘Lil’ Kickett.
Elizabeth Kickett has since passed away from breast cancer and in her memory we would like to collect a gold coin donation at the gate to go towards the Breast Cancer Foundation. There is a Memorial shield named after “Lil” Kickett that is presented to the winning team, and the ‘Sharon Woods Medallion’ for the Best on Ground player of the match.
With the successful inaugural match in 2010, the WAWFL are keen to make this year even bigger and better with the assistance of the WAFC and a new appointed committee. This match is scheduled to be played at Perth Demon’s Football Club at 2pm on the 8th July during Naidoc week.
This is sure to be a fun filled day with exciting pregame entertainment and the main event at 2pm to show case the extremely talented Female Footballers participating in the Yorga Match!
