Former local Junior, Earl Shaw: 2005 Sydney Swans

Ex Penrith Swan Earl Shaw has now become a Sydney Swan draft rookie thanks mainly to the National AFL U18 Championships - a key element of the AFL Rising Stars Program.
Earl started his junior football career with the Penrith Rams (now Penrith Swans) in Season 1995. In his first season as an Under 9, he amassed 31 games, which is an indication that he was well sought after by the older age groups.
Earl finished his career with the Penrith Swans in Season 2001 having played 155 club games before turning his attention and successful selection to the Sydney Redbacks.
Earl has also participated in both Under 16 and Under 18 State and National Championships with the NSW/ACT Rams, as well as playing the ruck role for Sydney Swans Reserves.
Last season, Earl and proud Dad Peter (a Penrith Swan Life Member), made a point of returning to the place where it all begun, Greygums Oval. Earl visited each team on that cold winter training night and gave some much sought advice on good rucking techniques.
Earl has worked extremely hard in getting where he is today - fitness, training + studies, etc. Success can also be attributed to the sacrifices endured by Peter in getting his son to & from club/representative training and match day commitments.
Congratulations and well done Earl, on behalf of the Penrith Swans JAFC. We wish you all the very best for the future prospects and opportunities that lie ahead.
Thanks to Dave Hall (Penrith Swans) for information
