VENOM YOUTH WOMEN WIN THE CHAMPIONSHIP

Congratulations to our 'Porter Davis' Youth Women on winning the 2013 Big V Youth League championship, a fantastic performance in front of a massive crowd at Warrandyte Sports Complex.  Earlier in the night our 'Gardiner McInnes' Senior Women won through to the Division One Grand Final with a big win, their 15th straight victory.

Capping a remarkable season, just their third in the Big V, the Venom's Youth Women finished on top of the ladder, progressed to the Grand Final with a 2pt win against Craigieburn, before winning the title with a 56-36 win over last year's champions, Hawthorn.

Captain Bree Waugh (19pts, 9rbs, 3ass, 3stl, 4 treys) won the game MVP with an outstanding performance.

The win marked Warrandyte Basketball's first ever Big V championship, an achievement club General Manager Justin Nelson applauded with great admiration.

"A huge congratulations to Nicole Howard, Kellie Taylor and Sue Waugh on leading this outstanding team of young ladies. The club is extremely proud of their achievements and have total admiration for teh way inwhich they represent the club," said Nelson.

"The fact that this team is still so young highlights the amazing future that's ahead. Nicole is a fantastic coach and has built a team that absolutely plays for the club and for each other. They are a really enjoyable team to watch and the club congratulates them on a magnificent season."

Earlier in the night the 'Gardiner McInnes' Senior Women moved through to this year's D1W Grand Final with an emphatic 89-49 win against Whittlesea. The Venom will meet either Craigieburn or Geelong in the Grand Final.
