The 2011 Maroochy RSL Club AFL Sunshine Coast Juniors Management Committee was elected to office at the Annual General Meeting on Monday 8th November. After four years of fantastic service on the Management Committee, Joe Brennan vacated the President’s chair that he has occupied for the last two years.
Joe has been involved in Coast footy for around 10 years now, starting the journey at Gympie before a move saw the family set up at Noosa and joining the Tigers where he was heavily involved in coaching and at committee level. In 2007, Joe stepped on to the league Management Committee and furthermore took on the leadership role of President in 2009. At the recent AFL Sunshine Coast Juniors presentation night, Joe was recognised for his outstanding service to the league by being named as the winner of the 2010 Regional League Volunteer of the Year. Congratulations Joe, and thank you for your years of service.
Stepping in to the Presidents shoes for 2011 is Sunshine Coast Hall of Fame member Chris Hunt, who has served on the Management Committee since 2008 and brings with him a wealth of knowledge and experience to the leadership role. Chris' experience includes six years as Senior President of the Caloundra Panthers where he is a life member, along with serving on the BAFL/AFLSQ board for eleven years, where he was also awarded life membership.
The league also welcomes back Kent Weightman, David Ward, Ingrid Goff and Anthony Neck as they continue their role in aiding the development of AFL on the Sunshine Coast. The league also looks forward to working with Lionel Lee, Gary Vincent and Deb Linton who have all stepped on to the committee for 2011.
The 2011 committee has a wide spread of members from clubs across the coast, with each member bringing valued knowledge that will assist with the advancement of the league.
The AGM also provided the opportunity for the league to present clubs with their 2010 premiership flags. Pictured here is Phill McCombe from Glasshouse Hinterland accepting the Under 12 Division 2 premiership flag from outgoing League President Joe Brennan.
The league would like to thank all delegates who attended the AGM, with newcomers Bribie Island attending their first AFL Sunshine Coast Juniors AGM, as we work towards another great year and the challenges that are presented.
Further to the AGM, the league will hold its annual Conference at Maroochy RSL Club on Sunday 21st November, commencing at 9.00am.
It is expected that two elected delegates from each club will be in attendance who are well versed on their clubs views on agenda items for the meeting.
Topics of discussion will include competition structures, match day issues and the league will welcome guest speaker, AFL Queensland CEO Richard Griffiths who will highlight the AFL Queensland 2030 vision along with other items.
