Sports star Q&A with Essendon Bomber and Pomona product Rhys Magin
1.Which schools did you attend?
Eumundi State School and Noosa District High School
2.What were your favourite subjects?
PE and maths
3.Which sports did you play at school?
I played a bit of rugby, cricket and basketball
4.While you were growing up, who was your sporting hero?
Shane Warne. I always watched him when the cricket was on. I used to try and spin it like him with my brothers in the backyard
5.Which other sport, outside of AFL, do you enjoy watching?
Mainly cricket. I went to a Twenty20 game between Australia and South Africa over the summer, which was pretty good. That’s probably my favourite form of the game at the moment.
6.What is your favourite food?
Lasagne
7.What music do you like?
I like any sort of music basically – anything but heavy metal
8.Who has been a major influence on your sporting career?
Probably my mum and dad (Gayle and Billy). When I was young they’d drive me everywhere
9.What has been your most memorable sporting moment?
Probably my AFL debut against West Coast in round 19 last year at Subiaco
10. What advice do you have for kids playing junior sport?
Just to enjoy it and have as much fun as they can.
