If your wondering why you haven't seen many juniors recently, they've all been busy at the NSW State Junior Series & other Junior events.
Currently, Warringah is sitting in 2nd place (behind Cronulla)on the club pointscore, a position we haven't been in for many years. With 2 more races to go, including the State Championships in Mudgee, we're priming ourselves for a big effort.
Congratulations are due for Brooke Langereis and Jelle Bakker who are now competing in the ITU under 19 Pro Tour Series and have also qualified for the Australian ITU under 19 Pro Tour, the first event of which they will be competing in this weekend in Canberra. These 2 athletes are also on track for qualification for the ITU Junior Worlds. Pretty good effort for Brooke considering this is her first year of triathlon.
Brooke, Jelle and Jesse Freeman are also members of the Sydney Junior Triathlon Academy (SJTA), Brooke and Jesse being in the development squad and Jelle in the performance squad.
Our adolescent training squad is training extremely hard with running, swimming, riding and brick sessions, you might have seen some of us at the Sydney Academy running track, or maybe on the road to Church Point on a Saturday morning.
If you are aware of any teenage kids interested in the sport of triathlon, and don't know how to start, train or understand the progressive pathway for athletes, have them call Symon Astley on 0415 412979
