The Department of Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs (FAHCSIA) has once again opened the Volunteer Grants Program for 2009.
This program recognises the valuable work of Australia’s volunteers and is part of the Government’s ongoing commitment to supporting volunteers and encouraging social inclusion in local communities. Funding is available to eligible non-profit organisations to purchase practical and tangible small equipment items to assist their volunteers, and/or to contribute towards reimbursement of fuel costs incurred by volunteers in their volunteering work, including those who use their cars to transport others to activities, deliver food and assist people in need.
Volunteer Grants 2009 provides funding of between $1,000 and $5,000 to help non-profit organisations to:
The Volunteer Grants 2009 funding round opens on Friday 14 August 2009 and closes on Friday 25 September 2009 at 5pm AEST. Only the 'online' electronic forms or the approved paper Volunteer Grants 2009 Application Form will be considered.
On-line (electronic) applications
Application forms are available from the FaHCSIA website (www.fahcsia.gov.au). Applications can be accessed, completed and submitted directly online via the website. Alternatively, applications can be downloaded, saved, completed and submitted by email to Volunteer Grants 2009 at vg2009applications@fahcsia.gov.au Applications must be lodged by 5pm AEST Friday 25 September 2009.
Paper-based applications
Requests for paper-based Application Forms and Application Guidelines can be made to the toll-free Volunteer Grants Hotline on 1800 183 374. A type-able Word version of the paper application form is also available.
