Gun full forward Luke Jarjoura has joined a heavy off-season exodus from the Southport Sharks. Football Manager Jason Cotter today confirmed that Jarjoura, the No.4 goal-kicker in the QAFL State League last year, would move to Shepparton for employment reasons and would be lost to the competition. He is the 10th regular senior player from 2009 moving on.

Twenty One year old midfielder Ben Heffernan-Roper has capped off a fine 2009 Velocity Sports Cup season by claiming the Bill Peirce Medal for the Best and Fairest Player at the Western Magpies.
Heffernan-Roper polled 44 votes to be a decisive winner over diminutive midfielder Chris Judson.

Talented journeyman Jordan Doering has won the Labrador Best and Fairest Award in his first season in the QAFL. Doering who was named as Centre Half Back in the 2009 Velocity Sports Cup Team of the Year polled 82 votes to narrowly win from the fast finishing Jason Howard on 78 votes with Captain Aaron Shattock in third position on 71 votes.
