DOERING IS TOP TIGER IN 2009

Talented journeyman Jordan Doering has won the Labrador Best and Fairest Award in his first season in the QAFL.

Doering who was named as Centre Half Back in the 2009 Velocity Sports Cup Team of the Year polled 82 votes to narrowly win from the fast finishing Jason Howard on 78 votes with Captain Aaron Shattock in third position on 71 votes.

Doering was essentially used across half back by the Tigers with the occasional run in the midfield but his ability to read play and finish off with pinpoint disposal was a feature. His AFL experience at Essendon and Carlton combined with his VFL exposure at Tasmania and Bendigo assisted in the transition to the QAFL and along with Howard (Kingborough Tas) and Corowa-Rutherglen blanketing defender Dustin Mills (fifth place 62 votes) meant that three of the top five positions in the Best and Fairest at Tigerland were filled by new recruits.

2007 Grogan Medallist Todd Featherstone split Shattock and Mills in fourth place with 65 votes whilst local products Mat Clarke and Scott Trembath recorded top eight finishes.
