Benchmark Designer Homes Redbacks' WABL Round 12 Results

The 16 Benchmark Designer Homes Redbacks’ Western Australian Basketball League teams played the Willetton Tigers at the Leisurelife Recreation Centre last Sunday. The Redbacks had 3 wins while the Tigers had 13.

Under 18 women’s team player Jessica Jakens was the Benchmark Designer Homes Redbacks highest scorer for the day with 41. Development League player Jacinta Bourne the next highest women’s scorer on 20 while fellow Development League player  Frances Clarke had 19 and under 15 women’s player Shayna Van Bakkum had 15.

Under 16 player Luke Fletcher and Development League player Michael Vigor were both the highest scorers from the men’s teams with 25 each.

Coach Michael Romero threatened physical retribution to the reporting team at the Redbacks’ Media Office if we failed to mention that his Benchmark Designer Homes under 12 men’s team won their seventh consecutive game. This followed their 46 to 35 win against the strong Tigers’ combination. The team is now in second place in the 6-team Northern Conference with 7 wins and 4 losses. Reece Hewitt scored 6, Luke Simonette 8, Nicholas Moody 4, Ben Vos 1, Daniel Ong 10, Kyle Bowen 14 and Nicholas Pyne 3.

The under 12 women’s team lost 17 to 101. Chloe Smith continued her season-long strong form with 9 while consistent scorers Maddy Craig and Samantha Campbell both had 4 each. They are now in 5th place in the 6-team conference with 1 win and 11 losses.

The under 13 men’s team lost 22 to 74. Nicholas Ramsay scored 2 and Stephen Pover and Adam Parore 10 each. They now have a season record of 5 wins and 7 losses and are in 4th conference place out of 6 teams.

The under 13 women’s team lost 32 to 82. They have a season record of 2 wins and 9 losses and are in 5th conference place. Emerson Lambert and Juliet Tucker both scored 6 while Gabriella Pyne had 2, Tayla Naudi 9 and Vanessa Harwood 3.

The under 14 men lost 44 to 62, which sees them in 4th conference place out of 6 teams with 6 wins and 6 losses. Matthew Biletic scored 10, Jeet Mann 6, Dion Street 2, Sean Jakens 4, Matthew Newell 2, Jack Wagner 2 and Shaquille Maharaj 17.

The under 14 women’s team lost 6 to 78. The Redbacks’ scorers for this game have not been listed on the Basketball WA WABL website. The girls are in 5th conference place.

The under 15 men’s team went down to the Tigers 41 to 52 in a tight encounter. Lattrell Matthews scored 9, Jarret Donker 3, Clint Jansen 4, Lloyd Harwood 4, Alex Bevilaqua 2, Giordano Monteleone 7, Jacob Marr 9 and Yoseph Soliman 3. They are now in 4th conference place out of 6 teams with 7 wins and 5 losses.

The under 15 women’s team is now in 5th conference place out of 6 teams after their 55 to 80 loss to the Tigers. Samantha Tognolini scored 10, Blade Willison 2, Rachel Goodger 4, Tahlia Rodgers 4, Shayna Van Bakkum 15, Lucy Noll 2 and Natasha Hansen 5.

The under 16 men’s team lost 50 to 114. Darren Lopez scored 1, Matthew Ramanah 7, Luke Fletcher 25, Liam Briggs 3, Hasula Poogoda 3, Jake Staunton 2 and Domenic Romeo 2. They now have 3 wins and 9 losses and are in 5th conference place out of 6 teams.

The under 16 women’s team lost 42 to 62, which sees them in 4th conference place out of 6 teams with 6 wins and 6 losses. Natasha Ziino scored 4, Abbey Harris 7, Jessica Hughes 13, Kristie Hawes 6, Lori Ashworth 10 and Caitlin Largue 2.

The under 18 Division 2 men narrowly lost 70 to 79 in a see-saw encounter against the Tigers and are now in 6th conference place. Josh Hindle scored 10, Jonathon Birkett 3, Bradley Hall 18, Brad Smeaton 6, Giorgio Milio 8, Sanni Mandred 17 and Raphael Bianchini 9.

The under 18 Division 1 men’s team lost 50 to 109. All players made the scoresheet with Travis Uphill scoring 1, Stephen Thick 2, Charles Corr 3, Jamieson Lewis 3, Steven Vigor 6, Declan Everett 11, Filip Glisic 8, Dylan Murphy 2 and Ben Ellis 14. They are now in 6th conference place with 2 wins and 10 losses.

The under 18 women’s team now has a season record of 6 wins and 6 losses following their 61 to 70 loss to the Tigers. They are in 2nd conference place out of 6 teams. Emma Black scored 1, Carlie Richardson 2, Jessica Jakens 41, Jessica Hughes 6, Gabby O’Sullivan 8 and Madison Ireland 3.

The under 20 men’s team lost 50 to 71. They are in 8th overall place out of 9 teams with 2 wins and 9 losses. Joshua Guppy scored 9, Shaun Bartlett 15, Alessio Milio 6, Ryan Vincent 2, Ashley Flynn 5, Jordan Ah Chee 9, Tighe Rodgers 2 and Jarryd Doherty 2.

The Development League women’s team won 81 to 32. Monique Kickett scored 4, Katarina Ualkovic 2, Jacinta Bourne 20, Gabby O’Sullivan 7, Alix Hayward 12, Natasha Nicholson 6, Catherine Tinley 6, Narelle Henry 5 and Frances Clarke 19. They now have a season record of 9 wins and 3 losses and are in 3rd conference place out of 6 teams.

The Development League men’s team won 99 to 51, which sees them remain in top conference place out of 6 teams with 11 wins and 1 loss. All players scored with Jarrad Jackson getting 11, Michael Vigor repeating last week’s personal score with 25, Jake Whately 6, Jared Faint 5, Tim Rendulic 3, Ashley Stephens 19, Paul Cassir 2, Reece Dempster 10 and Blake Smith 15.
