TRYOUTS - September 2014 report

Both the Goannas and Geckos programs held a second tryout camp following the first one in June 2014 over the AFL Grand Final weekend, September 27-28 2014. The tryout camp was held at Waverley Basketball Association's centrepiece stadium, with excellent facilities for players to train and recover between sessions.

Coaches Brent Reid and Janelle Bressow, alongside the Goannas Assistant Coach, Ramas Rentelis put the squads through their paces and build on the foundation laid at the June 2014 camp. There were some new comers for the Geckos program, as a result of Deaf Basketball Australia's efforts to promote the camp across the nation.

At the conclusion of the camp, both the coaches were left with a clear picture of the work needed to be done to ready the Goannas and the Geckos for the international stage, however they are both looking forward to what the new year will bring - two international tournaments for the Goannas and the Asia Pacific Deaf Games for the Geckos!

Deaf Basketball Australia wishes to acknowledge the support of Mike Bullock and Shane Palmer at Waverley Basketball Association for having the Goannas and Geckos try out camp held at their fantastic stadium - thanks Mike and Shane!
