RECENT HIGHLIGHTS
Otago Under 21 Women's co-captain Victoria Nafatali has been selected for the New Zealand Under 19 Women's Touch squad. Victoria's attacking prowess was a key to Otago scoring many touchdowns during their national tournament in the first week of March. Victoria will get the opportunity to play alongside New Zealand Open Women's representative Kelsey Berryman- the only other South Island player in the squad of twenty.
Otago Under 21 Women's representative Dayna Turnbull has the distinction of being selected in the New Zealand Under 21 Women's squad as a 16 year old. Dayna fully deserved her New Zealand selection based on her potent scoop, unyielding defence, and all round ability. Dayna joins three Cantabrians in the squad of twenty, the rest being from the North Island.
Otago Over 40 Men attended the masters nationals and due to the hard work of all players Willy Drummond and Wi Richard Tohiariki were named in the New Zealand Men's 40s squads.
Otago Under 21 Women are the National Touch Champions sprint relay champions for 2010, within their grade. Dayna Turnbull, Tamara Turner, and Jessica Wilson outsprinted (and outskilled) their rivals and took the title in an exciting race.
Under 21 Otago Women attended the nationals scoring 60 touchdowns in 9 matches. In a tight grade they finished fourth.
Under 13 Mixed team are South Island Champions. Well Done to Brett Haugh, Raewyn van Vugt and all their wonderful players who went through this season unbeaten and scored a massive 42 touchdowns in seven games at the SI IPS.
