Last night the F&DLFL Independent Tribunal heard charges arising from an under 16 match last Sunday, involving an under 16 player and an Umpire. (This was conducted in accordance with VCFL guidelines and rulings.)
The decision passed down by the Independent Tribunal was a 10 year penalty.
This suspension will take the player above the limit of suspended matches under the AFL Deregistration Policy. The player will be immediately deregistered as a player as per the rule, and may only return to playing under application to AFL Victoria as the governing body.
The F&DJFL will not be entering into any further discussions, nor responding to questions on the findings of this Independent Tribunal.
We feel for all parties involved in this matter, and will continue to work closely in support with our umpires, our clubs and all involved in the sport to strive for an environment that is both safe and enjoyable for all participants.
It must also be reiterated that the various codes of conduct within the F&DJFL rules, VCFL, and Football Victoria for spectators, officials and players is not a request, but a condition of participation.
This matter is now concluded and we look forward to a successful and enjoyable final series."
