AFL Legend Ron Barassi will be heading to the Red Hill Showgrounds on Sunday August 2nd where he will attend the Mornington Peninsula Nepean Football League clash between Nepean neighbours Red Hill and Dromana sixth WorkSafe Game of the Month for the 2009 season.
Ron Barassi was named “2009 Victorian of the Year” in Victoria Day celebrations earlier this year.
Barassi, who played more than 250 games of VFL/AFL football for Melbourne and Carlton including six premierships with the Demons, followed by a famous coaching career that included two premierships with Carlton and two with North Melbourne, will be a star attraction at the local hit-out between the two rivals.
arassi, who regularly attends country football games as the WorkSafe country footy Ambassador, will address a pre-game luncheon before mingling with the crowd and taking in the local footy. There will be activities for the kids during the afternoon as well as the action on the field.
WorkSafe Victoria and the Victorian Country Football League will host local businesses, club and league sponsors, life members and local footy supporters at the WorkSafe Game of the Month luncheon.
Barassi will present the winning football and netball teams after the senior game with specially struck “WorkSafe Cups”.
The WorkSafe Game of the Month program, now in its 7th year, has become a major highlight of the WorkSafe VCFL calendar according to WorkSafe VCFL CEO, Glenn Scott.
“The WorkSafe Games of the Month have been very popular over recent years and a definite highlight of the WorkSafe VCFL calendar. It is always fantastic to have AFL Legend Ron Barassi in attendance at these matches. We expect a bumper crowd at Red Hill, and a competitive game of football between Red Hill and Dromana for Round 16 points in the Nepean League.” said Mr Scott.
