Woori Yallock v Monbulk (Preliminary Final)

Woori Yallock 19.10.124 defeated Monbulk 14.12.96. Woori Yallock got off to a great a start and looked the more settled side early as they raced to a 4 goal lead at quarter time. The second term went goal for goal but Monbulk couldn’t claw any closer by half time as both teams scored 4 goals for the quarter. Woori seemed to be in control but Monbulk hit back hard in the third with a fantastic 6 goal term, Woori Yallock only managed 1 goal for the quarter and all of a sudden Woori Yallock only held a 4 point lead. Woori saved their best footy for the last term as they seemed to have more run in their legs than Monbulk and it reflected on the scoreboard as they booted 7 goals to Monbulks 3 and ended up 28 point victors. In the end Woori Yallocks dominance down forward with Damian Monkhorst and Daniel Williamson kicking 7 goals each couldn’t be matched by Monbulk. Woori will now take on Upwey Tecoma in what shapes up to be a fantastic Grand Final. Woori Yallock’s best: Danny Ryan, Michael McGrath and Damian Monkhorst. Monbulk’s best: Jason Fraser, Vincent Dunstan and Michael Hughson.

Reserves
Monbulk v Healesville (Preliminary Final)

Monbulk 13.8.86 defeated Healesville 7.11.53. Monbulk was great in the first quarter holding Healesville to just 1 behind as they booted four goals and probably should have been further in front at the first break as they wasted a couple of other opportunities. Healesville did open their goal scoring account in the second term an in fact outscored Monbulk in that term but it was only by a mere 2 behinds. Healesville started to look a lot more dangerous in the third as they started their scoreboard ticking over booting 3 goals and holding Monbulk to just the one major for the quarter. Going into the last term it was only a 6 point margin Monbulks way. Monbulk finished the way they started by holding Healesville goalless and booting 6 goals to end up running away with an impressive 33 point victory. Monbulk will have the chance for premiership glory next week when they meet Upwey Tecoma in the big one. Monbulk’s best: Ben Brundin, Damian Smethurst and Shaun Lucas. Healesville’s best: Benjamin Payne Shaun Anderson and Brad Wilkinson.

Under 18s
Upwey Tecoma v Monbulk (Preliminary Final)

Monbulk 10.12.72 defeated Upwey Tecoma 8.4.52. For the first half of this game Upwey looked to be in control as they lead by 10 points at quarter time and by just 7 points at half time. Monbulk did have plenty of the footy but were wasteful in front of goal as they trailed 4.7 to 6.2 at the half. What a fantastic 3rd term put on by Monbulk, their defense was superb as Upwey was held scoreless. Monbulk booted 4.2 for the quarter to turn a 7 point defecit at the half into a 19 point lead at the last change. The last term was an even affair with both sides adding 2 goals but it was Monbulk’s superb 3rd quarter that lead them to a brilliant 20 point victor. Monbulk take on Mount Evelyn in the Grand Final next week in a Grand Final that promises to be a ripper with 2 sides so evenly matched that a winner is almost impossible to pick. Monbulk’s best: Benjamin Bedford-Lee, Thomas Latimer and Tristan Tutt. Upwey’s best: Zaccariah Dyson, Jack Hughes and Tom Barnard
