YVMDFL Bushfire Fund kick started with a $10,000 donation from Ainslie Football & Social Club.
Canberra based Aussie Rules team, Ainslie Football Club have kick started the YVMDFL Bushfire fund with a most generous $10,000 donation.
The CEO of the YVMDFL, Mr Stephen Walter says the support and interest shown by Ainslie Football club in the welfare of all the YVMDFL clubs and their members is outstanding and is a credit to their club’s sporting & community ethos.
Mr Kevin Grace, Chief Executive Officer, Ainslie Football & Social Club and Mr Corey Saitta, General Manager – Football Operations have been in regular contact with the YVMDFL and have offered their support in many ways to ensure that YVMDFL clubs can get mobilised amidst all the challenges.
Mr Grace said “Sporting clubs – football and netball – are at the core of rural and regional areas in country Victoria. Clubs provide a vehicle for positive interaction, relationships and friendships among people of all ages, backgrounds, race and creed. Thousands of people spend countless hours of their recreation and leisure time at clubs across the country. In many instances sporting clubs are a home away from home”.
“The chance to assist in the rebuild of those who have been directly affected, as well as those who are active members of the Yarra Valley Mountain Football Netball League, was an opportunity we simply could not pass up” he said.
YVMDFL President Mr Graeme Tuplin said “Ainslie Football Club is clearly an outstanding club who has an excellent community charter which has been clearly evidenced with their support of the YVMDFL over recent weeks”. Mr Tuplin is hopeful that representatives from Ainslie Football Club can visit the YVMDFL at some stage during the season, and possibly catch a game at Kinglake.
Mr Walter has been suitably impressed with the wider sporting community & its efforts to support YVMDFL member clubs in most need. Ainslie Football Club is to be congratulated on their pro-active support.
The YVMDFL has a fully registered Bushfire Fund with the Victorian Government and plans to assist sporting clubs directly to ensure that sport can once again harness community spirit in some very challenging conditions. There are no overheads associated with the YVMDFL fund and all funds will be directed to clubs in most need.
