Welcome to the Bendigo Umpires Association.  Welcome to the 2009 season.   Keep your eye on the site for all the latest updates. If you have any suggestions as to what you want to see on here please contact us.

For those interested in taking up umpiring please contact Lorna on 0418 569 394 or bendigoumpires@bigpond.com.au. Training is conducted at the Weeroona Oval Clubrooms from 5.30pm Tuesday and Thursday nights.

The Bendigo Umpires Association is one of the Oldest Umpiring Association in the VCFL being formed in 1931.  We currently umpire in the Bendigo Football Netball League, Heathcote and District Football League, Loddon Valley Football League, Bendigo Junior Football League and also the Bendigo Youth Womens League.   We offer opportunities to all types and have an open door policy, our diversity of age and people across the spectrum sets us apart.  People have grown in confidence after joining our association and have obtained skills that are with them for life.  Where else can someone learn to take charge of an event and respond to challenges constantly whilst under physical duress.   Join the BUA and take up this wonderful life challenge.

 2009 Awards

A great season was celebrated by all and sundry at the Bendigo Umpires 2009 awards held on Sunday at the Weeroona Oval clubrooms with over 120 people in attendance.   A special guest for the day was future star Tristan Burgess who officiated in numerous VFL fixtures during 2009.  Mitch Cole a cousin of Tristan’s won the Golden Whistle award, which recognises an up and coming star.  Tristan himself won this award some years back.

The highlight of the awards was John Palmer receiving the Ian Coates Encouragement Award.  Despite John’s disability he commits 110% each week and is the pride of the BUA.  Patrick Van Dyk was announced as the Ian Tuddenham Memorial award winner as best club person for generally being a great bloke and inspiration to the younger members.   Special awards of a mounted football commemorating games milestones were presented to Gary Goudge 500, Chris Weatheritt 300 and Ross Court 200 Senior Games respectively.   A 10 year mug was presented to Jason Seipolt, Damian Nolan and Mark Herman.  Cameron McGlashan was awarded the BUA Life Members Scholarship of $500 to assist with his schooling.  The Arthur Hibbert Shield was awarded to Pringals Lemons.  The Tool of the year winner was John Norton who was presented with a handcrafted trophy.
