2013 The Shoulder Charge, explained, by Greg McCallum

Regarding how would contact be viewed if a shoulder made contact with the head or neck of an opponent if the arm was down the side and rigid.
The interpretation is that it would be illegal as the directions below state the infringement occurs when contact is made and the arms are not used in the tackle. Indeed the arm is rigid / tucked into the side.

2013 Max Dunn made a Life Member of ARLRA

NSWRLRA Life Member Max Dunn was made a Life Member of the Australian Rugby League Referees Association. Congratulations Max on an absolutely outstanding achievement.
Max was announced as a Life Member of the ARLRA at their Annual General Meeting on Saturday (9th Feb) in Sydney. To receive the award you must have held life membership in your own association for more than 20 years amongst other major contributions to refereeing.

2013 Rule changes for the N.R.L.

The A.R.L.C. has today approved the removal of the ‘benefit of the doubt’ call and supported a change in the way video referees are called on to make decisions in a meeting that has finalised a series of key on-field issues for 2013, including a resolution of State of Origin eligibility.
From 2013 no player will be eligible to play for NSW or Queensland unless he has lived in that state before the age of thirteen, or unless he is the son of an Origin player. The player must also be eligible to play for Australia. Read on for more

2012 Back to Brooklyn tradition continues

Brooklyn started 23 years ago, when a few member wanted to catch up for a quite drink after the season had finished, since a few lived north of the Hawkesbury, they decided to jump on a train and meet half way, hence Brooklyn started its 23 year tradition, the numbers vary each year, with over a dozen attending this year, thanks to Scott Murray and Brien Gately for organising the event

2012 Ken Messenger receives Daly Messengers Certificate

At the 2012 General Meeting of the NSWRLRA, Ken Messenger, the grandson of the great Daly Messenger received his grandfathers Graded Certificate.
The information was derived from the 1908 minute books of the NSWRLRA
Ken accepted the certificate with his son, it was the lowest number ever presented to a family member of the graded ranks, Daly Messenger, Number 24, Graded in 1908
