Hoops Help To Live Longer
The event will be known as the H4H “Live Longer” Challenge and will provide Government and Non Government service providers with a unique opportunity to come together to promote healthy lifestyle messages to the Maningrida community.
From Tuesday 25th October to Thursday 27th October, Hoops 4 Health Aboriginal Corporation will be facilitating a number of fun and engaging programs and physical and cultural activities aimed at increasing awareness of chronic disease, benefits of regular health checks and engaging in physical activity as a key preventative measure in reducing the risk of chronic disease in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
Sessions will be held at the Maningrida School on Wednesday 26th October and will culminate with the “Live Longer” Challenge on Thursday 27th October.
The Maningrida community can expect to see support from the Malabam Youth Service, The Council for Aboriginal Alcohol Program Services and The NT Police.
“Hoops 4 Health look forward to a good turn out with some avid local basketballers keen to participate in the showcase game. Hoops 4 Health would like to thank our government and non government partners in advance for contributing their time, effort and support for this event and in the delivery of grassroots community campaigns to deliver healthy lifestyle messages.” – Nikki Thomas, Board Member, Hoops 4 Health Aboriginal Corporation.
