H4H to Showcase Indigenous Basketball

Darwin will play host to an Indigenous and Torres Strait Islander Tournament in July. The Hoops 4 Health Aboriginal Corporation, a health promotion charity will conduct the event to be held from the 4-7 July 2011. The tournament will coincide with NAIDOC week activities.

Teams from Cairns, Brisbane, Alice Springs, Melbourne and remote NT communities have already indicated their desire to attend and compete.

 H4H Aboriginal Corporation Chairperson Frank Stokes:

“The uniqueness of this tournament will be the opportunity for nominated teams in different divisions and the chance to win prize money. Whilst the tournament is on, there will be opportunities for players and spectators to have health checks to address chronic diseases and other healthy lifestyle activities.”
