PRESS RELEASE NAIDOC Basketball Tournament

Community representative team

Ten teams are primed and ready to contest the NAIDOC H4H Basketball Tournament in Darwin starting Monday. JJ Balaz (Qld) boast a lineup that includes current and former ABA players whilst the local Eagles team (Darwin) includes a mix of US imports and local Darwin junior players. Da Heat have 6'9 scoring machine Travis Ellis and will be a formidible team. In the womens competition, Darwin team Rebels, Hot Shots and the Desert Diamonds boast high quality players. Northern Territory community, Daly River will make the trek to Darwin and will also benefit from having the services of Sydney Flames Assistant Coach, Peter Lonergan to take them through a session on the Monday.

The local NAIDOC Celebrity Game features Olympian Nova Peris. The game will be played on Wednesday at 11am. The two teams will be coached by Darwin Basketball legends Dennis Lewfatt and Natalie Hunter.

NAIDOC Darwin Patron, Dr Sue Stanton will be in attendance on Wednesday to present awards for the finalists. 

In late news, Australian NBA Star, Patty Mills will be unable to attend due to the passing of a family member.
