Coach Pugh Talks Preseason

New Perry Lakes Hawks Men’s SBL coach Trevor Pugh has made his mark on the squads’ preseason preparation.

Having been appointed in October last year, Coach Pugh returns to the club where he played in the late 1980s.

Since taking over the position, he has made a number of changes, including overhauling the team’s offensive and defensive principals.

“We have a specific transition defence that we run and same going the other way with offense.”

While the team’s 1-3 record at the preseason blitz may have been underwhelming, Coach Pugh said there were a number of positives to come out of the weekend.  “The discovery of more depth for our team,” he said.

“We gave the younger players the opportunity to show their wears and there were some good signs there.”

The introduction of a new coach, a new system and new players means that the Hawks Men’s team is far from a finished product however Coach Pugh is confident his plans for the team will pan out.

“These things take some time to implement, however over the longer term we will get hold of these things and it will be good for us.”
