V8 Supercar driver Tony D’Alberto will have the dark, unruly forces of nature on his side every time he gets behind the wheel of his souped-up four-wheeled beast after securing Centaur as a personal sponsor for the coming two years.
In Greek mythology the Centaur is a creature with the arms and head of a man, and the body of a horse. That description probably doesn’t match the stature of D’Alberto, but it’s the fierce determination and strength of the Centaur that is a perfect synergy.
Announcing the sponsorship, D’Alberto said he was proud to have Centaur on board and would wear the name and colours with pride.
“It’s a strong name and an equally strong symbol. When it comes to V8 Supercars the strong and the bold make things happen out on the track, so Centaur is a great fit,” said D’Alberto.
“I’m looking forward to wearing the Centaur on my gear, I’ll be going all out to make sure I bring those dark, unruly forces of nature back to life,” quipped D’Alberto.
Based in Kilsyth, Centaur produces innovative composite panels for vehicles and was recently the centrepiece around the design and build of the new Victorian Police Divisional Vans.
More than 200 of the slick looking Police vehicles will hit the road in the coming year, highlighted by the Centaur pod on the back of a Commodore VE Utility.
Centaur is also the manufacturer of panels for a number of teams in the V8 Supercar series and in the coming years will unveil a number of innovative, lifestyle automotive products.
“I’m pleased Centaur sees me as a good ambassador for their brand, it’s an endorsement I value enormously,” said D’Alberto, adding, “We exist in a sport where sponsorship is an important part of keeping the wheels turning, so it’s great to have that support.”
Look out for the Centaur logo next time D’Alberto goes racing, which just happens to 161 laps around Mt Panorama at Bathurst in mid-October.
