Tony D'Alberto put in a sublime drive to finish 11th in the first of two 250-kilometre races around the streets of Homebush in Sydney. In a race packed with slides, bumps, bangs and unscheduled visits to the pits, TD kept a straight car and drove strongly from start to finish.
The Sydney street circuit lived up to all its hype, delivering a race that was action-packed and tested every driver to their limit.
As car after car kissed the concrete walls or dived headlong into thick tyre barriers, those who kept a clean nose and a straight car emerged as the cars to beat.
Starting 20th on the grid, TD enjoyed some great battles during the race and came home strongly, registering his fastest lap on the 70th circuit of the 74-lap race.
With a fresh qualifying session on Sunday to determine starting position for the second 250-kilometre and season-ending race, TD will be going all out to crack the top 10.
