With cold track conditions grip on the track was an issue which troubled the #55 Commodore, with the track temperature sitting at 12 degrees.
'At the moment we are havng trouble pin pointing what exactly is wrong with the car, but you know when it just isn't right. We are going to make some more changes before the race, which will hopefully give us a bit of a boost. Its disappointing for the team but hoping that the race will bring us more luck'.
Tony qualified The Bottle-O Commodore in 27th for race one.
Race one was 100km in length, the race was free of safety cars with all the boys behaving themselves. One set of soft tyres were allocated for the Tasmania round, the Bottle-O Team decided to keep them for Sunday's race.
'I got caught up at the start and damaged my front bumper, from the impact the car lost alot of front grip making it even more difficult to progress up the field.'
The 30 strong pack circled the 2.4km long circuit with pit stratagies varying as to what tyres teams were running.
Reaching speeds of over 260 kph along the straight, Tony set his quickest time of a 00.52.832 on lap 11.
A good pitstop mid race by the team bolstered Tony up a few more postions.
Finishing in 25th Tony looks forward to a fresh start tomorrow.
'We have alot of work to be done before tomorrow, we need to improve the car, if we can do that, and we with the 'soft' tyres still available to us for the race we should have a better day.'
Qualifying starts at 10.35 tomorrow, with race 2 at 1.05pm. We hope to see you there!
