Who's a pretty little tea cup???

Regional Championships

The sunday program has been cancelled due to the wet weather. Check out the photo's of the ground if not sure why.

The program will be on again next sunday 14th february with the same program as was set down for today.

The wet weather phone number in case you need it next week end is: 0407 005 707

It was really great to see a lot of the parents that had done their "D" Grade exam the week before at the coaching clinic getting involved with helping out at the long jump & triple jump on Saturday. A few of them suddenly realised that it wasn't that hard after all. So thank you to everyone that helped out at Caboolture. (We get to do it all again next Sunday) yipeee!!

  • Some outstanding achievements that happenned on Saturday was seeing Shannon O'Dempsey smash the U14 girls triple jump. The previous record was 9.70mts and Shannon jumped a casual 10.90mts.

  • Renee Fassolis broke the U10 girls discus by a whopping 7mts. That is a massive result. Well done Renee.

Some other results were:

  • Starlea Wyllie winning the U13 High jump & 100mts.
  • Milli Stuurop broke the discus record.
  • Jack Payne broke the U10 Long jump record.
  • Ned Archer won the 60mts. hurdles.
  • Robert Whelan U15 Shot put.
  • And the Modini brothers both came 2nd in their 400mt events.

Our Girls help win the Australia Cup for QLD

Queensland won the Australia Cup last week end for the 1st time ever!!!

Shannon O'Dempsey and Naomi Fitzpatrick both won their individual events over the weekend at the Australia Cup which was held in Canberra and Shannon was also involved with the winning relay team.

Naomi Fitzpatrick blitzed her rivals in winning the 1500mts by over 8 secs against australia's best distance runners.

Shannon O'Dempsey won her high jump without missing a jump until the last height. Shannon was extremely excited especially as she had to beat 2 current national champions to achieve her result. Shannon was also victorious in the 4 x 100mt relay winning by half a second.

The five girls that were in the team won all 5 of their individual events, and then also won the relay, so they completely blitzed the competition.

Apparently they were all complaining on the plane back that they wanted the plane to turn around and go back to Canberra because they had so much fun!

They met a few athletic celebs including Patrick Johnson and Tamsyn Lewis and got autographs etc, and had a private tour through the Australian Institute of Sport.

And yes it is the 1st time that they’ve won the Australia Cup so QLAA are extremely proud and excited.

***Congratulations from everyone involved with the USCLAC***

For everyone that is going to Regional Championships this week end and are not sure where the grounds are, if you click on the following link and zoom in on Centenary Lakes Sports Club (B) you will see the Athletics Track beside the cycling velodrome.

Directions to the ground are as follows: take the highway down to the Bribie Island turn off and turn right to Caboolture. You then turn left at Morayfield Road and go through the 1st set of lights. You will then see Centenary Lakes on your right where there is a fountain in operation. Take the 1st turn into the sports fields and the Athletics Track is next to the Tennis courts. You won't miss all the cars there and just look for the blue & white marquee's of the Uni club.

Remember to bring along a hat, water and sunscreen as it could get very hot out in the sun over the week end.

Please take note that any of the events can be called forward upto half an hour ahead of the sheduled time for any event. So don't leave it till the last minute to arrive at the track as you may find that you miss out on that event.
